It is no secret that we love our weekend getaways! We try and take at least several a year and we (like everyone else) love to travel on long weekends that incorporate holidays. Martin Luther King Jr. day is this coming Monday and we scouted the best flight deals in both North America and Europe!

Depart Friday the 18th, Return Monday the 21st

These deals are the best we found flying from Boston Logan (BOS) on the select dates

Washington D.C.: Sure, the government is still shut down but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the sites of D.C. that are still accessible. It is being reported most of the exterior areas of the National Mall are still open, and what better way to celebrate MLK weekend than by paying a visit to the monument honoring him? Flights are $276 RT on Spirit Airlines, or if you are leery of their reputation (we flew them to Myrtle Beach and they actually weren’t bad!) JetBlue has RT flights for $362.

Chicago: The windy city may not be on everyone’s list this time of year, but the price may certainly make you reconsider! United is offering non-stop RT flights for $303 that will have you enjoying a skate in the shadow of the Cloud Gate sculpture (the reflective bean), sledding near Soldier Field, and watching polar bears and snow monkeys at the zoo!

Atlanta: For those looking for a slightly warmer destination, maybe Atlanta could be your ticket (temps are forecast in the 60’s for this Friday and Saturday. Delta is offering RT flights for $423. Be sure to make a stop at the Center for Civil and Human Rights, which features personal belongings of King’s on display. There is also the Martin Luther King, Jr. historic site, but it is currently closed due to the government shutdown.

Dallas: Another warm-weather destination and a city best known for the assassination of John F Kennedy. The historic center located in Dealy Plaza is a must-see, despite the subject matter being somewhat morbid, as it is presented in an interesting and thought-provoking manner. Beyond that though, Dallas is a city seeing a lot of growth including in its craft beverage and food scene, so it is a great trip for the foodies among us. Jetblue is running flights for $397 RT currently.

Nashville: Nashville has been one of our most enjoyable weekend getaways and we would go back in a heartbeat! This weekend Delta is running flights for $464 RT. Make sure to check out all the live music venues on Broadway and sample some of the famous hot chicken the city is famous for!
